Heather Douglas, Associate Professor of Philosophy, has recently published a paper, co-authored with T.Y. Branch, on “The social contract for science and the value-free ideal.” The paper describes the 20th century social contract for science, how it produced the value-free ideal for science, and why it needs to be replaced with a new contract. Professor Douglas plans on her next book project articulating what this new social contract for science should be. For more information about the paper, visit this link.
