Were you an undergraduate or graduate student who studied philosophy at MSU?

Supporting Philosophy at MSU

There are a number of ways you can support undergraduates, graduate students, and the department of philosophy in general. We have a couple of funds you can contribute to:

The Marilyn Frye Endowment for Graduate Study in Philosophy

To make a gift to the Marilyn Frye Endowment:

  • Go to: https://givingto.msu.edu/
  • Click the “give” button,
  • Type “ Marilyn Frye Endowment for Graduate Study in Philosophy”, and then follow prompts to process your contribution.

The Hall-Hanna Endowed Fund was established by Richard Hall and Joseph Hanna, emeritus professors of philosophy, to provide opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students at Michigan State University. Further support has been provided by MSU alumni and faculty who contributed to the fund.

The Win Wilkinson Scholarship FundWin A. “Win” Wilkinson, PhD age 70 was a professor of philosophy at MSU for 37 years, a tough but endearing teacher. He was funny, kind and thoughtful, whose answer to every philosophical question began with “yes” and “no.” He was a poet and a world traveler. He taught classes on metaphysics, history of philosophy, existentialism and phenomenology (especially Merleau-Ponty).
