Matt McKeon, Chair of Philosophy, Publishes New Book

Over the summer, Matthew McKeon, Philosophy’s Chair, published a new book, Arguments and Reason-Giving. In the book, Matt discusses “the uses of arguments to advance their premises as reasons for believing their conclusions.” To read more about the book, and to buy it, please visit Oxford University Press (oup.com).

A chapter from the book, In Defense of a Normative Concept of Argument, was also published in an article over the summer. The task of the paper is to “advance an understanding of the illative unit of argument and the reasons associated with it that provides an intuition pump for a normative concept of argument.” To read the article, please visit springer.com.

Congratulations to Matt on all his accomplishments! We’re so proud to have such an incredible Chair to lead MSU Philosophy.
