I am a PhD Candidate at Michigan State University working on the philosophy of history in its capacity as a tool for critical social philosophy. I draw on commentary and critique from Continental, Marxist, Black radical, and Foucaultian traditions. In my dissertation, I track the career of philosophy of history in the Atlantic world over the past two centuries with an eye toward the status and viability of teleological concepts of human sociality and social transformation, and I investigate what resources history and a theory of history might provide for social critique in the twenty-first century.
